What is the CompTIA A+ certification?
CompTIA A+ is a globally recognised entry-level IT certification. It validates essential skills in hardware, software, networking, mobile devices, operating systems, and basic security — and it’s often the first step into a tech career.
What’s included when I study with CyLynk?
Depending on your chosen path, you’ll get access to a full supporting course, hands-on virtual labs, practice exams, coaching or mentorship options, and your official exam voucher — all in one place.
Do I need any prior experience to take A+?
No prior experience is required, though basic familiarity with computers helps. CompTIA recommends 9–12 months of hands-on experience.
How are the exams structured?
CompTIA A+ consists of two separate exams — Core 1 (220-1201) and Core 2 (220-1202). Each has multiple-choice and performance-based questions, and must be passed individually to earn certification.
How long does the certification last?
CompTIA A+ is valid for 3 years from the date of your exam. You can renew it through CompTIA’s CE program by earning CEUs, taking a newer version of the exam, or earning a higher-level certification.
How do I schedule the exam?
Once you’re ready, you’ll receive a voucher and can book your exam through Pearson VUE — either online with remote proctoring or at a local test centre.
What happens if I don’t pass the exam first try?
You’ll receive feedback on which domains need improvement, and we’ll work with you through coaching or review sessions if you’re in a supported plan. Certify Master includes a pass guarantee with support until you succeed.
Will this help me get a job in IT?
Absolutely. A+ is recognised by employers worldwide and often listed as a minimum requirement for help desk, desktop support, and technical support roles. It shows you’re job-ready with real-world problem-solving skills.
