Do I need to be a current manager to take CSOM?
Not necessarily. Many candidates are leads, senior analysts, or team members preparing to step into leadership. The exam is designed to assess leadership readiness, not just experience.
How is the exam structured?
CSOM includes both theoretical and practical components. The assessment is completed online via the Security Blue Team platform. The theory portion consists of multiple-choice and scenario-based questions and runs for up to 4 hours. The practical portion involves applied tasks in simulated SOC management scenarios and runs for up to 24 hours. These exams can be completed at different times.
How long does the certification last?
It does not expire. However, learners are encouraged to continue with more advanced certifications or apply their skills in practical roles.
How do I schedule the exam?
Once you're ready, you'll receive a voucher and scheduling instructions to book your exam directly through Security Blue Team's platform.
What happens if I don’t pass the exam first try?
You’ll receive feedback on which domains need improvement, and we’ll work with you through coaching or review sessions if you’re in a supported plan. Certify Master includes a pass guarantee with support until you succeed.
